Olympic champion Lin Dan of China and world No.5 Saina Nehwal of India will take part in the SCG Thailand Open badminton championships this week.

The annual tournament will be held at CU Sports Complex, Chulalongkorn University from June 5-10.

The 28-year-old Lin, who is fresh from leading China to Thomas Cup glory for a fifth straight time last week, is the top seed in the men's singles. He hopes history will repeat itself as he won in Bangkok in 2008 and went on to take Olympic gold on home soil.

Other players in the men's event include world No.18 Tommy Sugiarto and Alamsyah Yunus of Indonesia and Muhammad Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia.

In the women's singles, Nehwal, 22, will make her second straight appearance in the tournament after crashing out in the quater-finals last year.

The Indian has one title this year after her successful defence at the Swiss Open. China's world No.39 Li Han will also be in the tournament.

World No.11 Ratchanok Inthanon will lead the local challenge alongside Porntip Buranaprasertsuk (world No.17), Boonsak Ponsana (32), Sapsiree Taerattanachai, Salakjit Ponsana and Busanan Ongbumrungpan, who won the 2012 Malaysian Open.

In the mixed doubles, Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam are Thailand's best hopes.
