Peter Gade advances into quarter-final at India Open Super Series 2012

Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade secured his spot in Men’s Singles quarter-final as he ousted Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in round-of-16 at the India Open Super Series 2012 in India, on Thursday, April 26.

Peter Gade, who is World Number Five and second seed in the tournament, had to employ all of his skills to beat his lower ranked Thai opponent in a straight set contest with a tight margin on the board.

Gade, who has recovered from an ankle injury, remained struggling in the court but managed to win the contest against Tanongsak in a thrilling fashion.

On the other hand, the Thai shuttler played remarkable badminton and troubled his higher ranked Danish rival throughout the contest.

However, he failed to take any game and lost the match with a tight margin on the board.

In the opening game, Gade played in his usual aggressive style and took a reasonable lead at the early stage.

But he failed to maintain it as his Thai opponent increased his speed and ended the deficit by reaching at 6-6.

Both shuttlers continued playing thrilling game while remaining positive in the court. Until the one-minute interval, Peter Gade was leading the game with a narrow margin of 11-10.

After the break, both players continued their positive and composed run in the court and reached at 16-16 when Peter Gade changed his tactics and executed superb strokes to take the set with a tight margin of 21-19.

In the second game, Peter Gade was impressive in the court when he played with aggression and manipulated the weaknesses of his rival.

The higher ranked Danish was ahead at 10-5 when Tanongsak changed his game plan and remained successful in taking 7 consecutive points to set up a reasonable lead of 12-10.

Gade became quicker at this stage as he played flat shots and pushed his opponent on back foot.

Both men played terrific badminton in the whole concluding phase and reached at 20-20 when peter Gade showed his craft and took the ending points to bag the set with a dramatic margin of 22-20.

Peter Gade managed to win this thrilling fight in two games with a 21-19 and 22-20 score on the board.
